Disturbing scenes at the Rose Bowl, where minutes before the start of the Real Madrid vs AC Milan friendly, Shaka Hislop lost consciousness during a pre-match segment.
The former GK and ESPN soccer analyst was doing a routine segment with co-host Dan Thomas, before staggering and then falling.
The cameras remained focused on the co-hosts, as Thomas called for help from medical services, “Shak! (referring to Hislop) Shak! Help!”.

In a video shared by ESPN FC, the ESPN soccer analyst revealed that he’s doing well and thanked everyone for reaching out to offer support, even people he hadn’t spoken to for many years.
“Well, that was awkward. What a 24 hours this has been. Every so often life gives you a moment to pause and this was mine. I have so much to be thankful for – my wife, kids, family loved ones, friends, people I’ve shared a space with over the years and lost touch with for whatever reason and have reached out either directly or indirectly, thank you! My response now has to be to seek out the best medical opinion that I can get and see what my doctor has to say,” Hislop said.
“In closing I’d like to say thanks to Dan and the ESPN family. The camera operators, the medical staff, all who responded in the way that they did and got me the care that I got. Thank you.
“I know now that even when we argue and disagree I have the fullest support of all of you. I look forward to getting back and doing what I enjoy doing most. See you in a bit.”
