Apart from the Lakers players that include LeBron James, team legends are also very much on board of bringing Kyrie Irving to Los Angeles Lakers. On Friday, the Brooklyn Nets wasn’t able to reach an agreement for an extension and decided to present a trade request. Nets won’t want to keep a player who doesn’t want to be in the squad, so they will likely oblige to the point guard’s request. Out of the many teams that can become Kyrie Irving’s new home, the Lakers option brings back memories of better days for Irving and LeBron.
As you all know, together they won one of the most memorable NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors with a Kyrie Irving three-point shot and a LeBron James’ legendary block. Since then, the entire NBA fandom has longed for the day these two play together again. Magic Johnson also sees this opportunity and published a tweet that described his feelings perfectly. This is what he wrote: “Personally, I’d love to see Kyrie in the purple and gold.”
Is a deal between Lakers and Kyrie close?
In the latest news on Saturday, Kyrie Irving was healthy to play for the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday against the Washington Wizards. At the Lakers, they play the New Orleans Pelicans and Russell Westbrook was listed as questionable. Kyrie Irving is reportedly not playing the game in order to sort out his future before Thursday, although his options are many as Russell Westbrook’s. Both of them possibly not playing on Saturday is not a confirmed indication Lakers and Nets are having any conversations for a possible trade.
All we know by now is that several teams would like to have any of them in their teams, we are talking about two of the best point-guards in the NBA’s last decade. Magic Johnson is only wishful thinking because he is no longer involved in the team’s leadership. If an approach takes place for a possible deal, we will be right there to report it. For now, we must expect both players to leave their respective teams before Thursday.
