Pictures showing Cristian Rotondi and Augusto Lotti posing in the Cruz Azul dressing room with a Lionel Messi shirt minutes after he scored the game winning goal for Inter Miami on Friday hasn’t gone down well with Emanuel Villa.
The former Argentine player, who played for the Mexican side, was very harsh on his compatriots given the pose came after they were defeated in the first match of the Leagues Cup.
Rotondi had already made it clear prior to the match that he wanted to ask Messi for his shirt after the match, though it likely didn’t have any influence on his desire to push for the win when on the pitch.
‘Tito’ Villa, who averaged more than one goal every two games during his three seasons at Cruz Azul (54 goals in 107 matches) was very critical of the Argentine players.
“I understand that it may have been the only opportunity they had to keep such a treasure, but where is the sporting shame? Difficult to understand the photo and the smiles!” tweeted the former striker, who had a very successful stint in Liga MX and now works as a journalist.
