It is believed that James Rodriguez could be close to joining Brazilian club Sao Paulo.
The two parties have been engaging in discussions for over two months, and Sao Paulo have now made a formal offer that, as reported by local press, has been accepted by the Colombian midfielder.
The 32-year-old has been available in the transfer market since leaving Olympiacos in April.
While James has received another offer from an MLS club, he is inclined to play in South America.
A crucial factor influencing his decision is the presence of Rafinha at the team. James and Rafinha previously played together at Bayern Munich and share a close friendship.
James Rodriguez fuels the speculation
After the news circulated by various Brazilian media outlets, James posted a photo from a plane on his social media account, accompanying it with a mysterious emoji and adding to the speculation. Sao Paulo fans left numerous comments on the post.
Currently coached by Dorival Junior, Sao Paulo hold the sixth position in the Brazilian championship and also participate in the Copa Sudamericana, the second most important club competition in South America after the Copa Libertadores.
