Ovidio Guzman, one of the sons of drug trafficker Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, was arrested on Thursday in Culiacan, Sinaloa, following an operation by federal authorities.
Known as “El Raton”, he was reportedly captured during an operation in the community of Jesus Maria. Guzman Lopez, 32, was identified as one of the main producers and distributors of fentanyl, and one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.
“I woke up and heard gunshots, but I didn’t imagine it until I started watching the news and social networks and they told us that the situation was complicated here [in Culiacan],” said footballer Ivan Pineda to the Mexican version of ‘Diario AS’.
Correcaminos, the club where Pineda plays, was supposed to play against Dorados de Sinaoloa.
However, the game was postponed due to the violence unleashed after the capture of ‘El Chapo’s’ son.
“It’s obvious, it’s not in our hands that something bad could happen, there is fear,” he said.
Pineda and his teammates are staying inside the training hotel because of what happened in Culiacan.
