Dani Alves asks to testify again as his family lends their unwavering support

Dani Alves, former Barcelona and Sevilla player, has spent his first weekend in jail without bail by order of the head of a Barcelona court after being accused of raping a 23-year-old girl on the night of December 30 in the toilet of the Sutton discotheque.

On Friday, a judge overseeing the testimony accepted the request of the prosecution and the private prosecution exercised by the complainant sending the 39-year-old to jail. The magistrate believes that Alves presents a high flight risk, given his financial capacity, and that his current permanent place of residence is in Mexico.

Dani Alves has asked to testify again before the judge after offering up to three different versions of the facts.

Cadena SER reports that the 39-year-old, who has just had his contract terminated by Mexican club Pumas, has asked to testify again before a judge after providing three different versions of events.

In Alves‘ statement to the judge, the player acknowledged, according to TV3, that he was in the discotheque, but maintained that he was only there for a short time and denied the sexual assault attributed to him by the victim. A story that, in the opinion of the examining magistrate, contradicts the evidence gathered by the authorities.

As reported by TV3, Alves stated three different things: first, he said that he did not know the girl he allegedly sexually assaulted, then he said that he had seen her but that nothing happened, and finally he said that she was the one who threw herself on him.

Alves’ family could change lawyer: I think the lawyer is not doing well

Ney Alves, Dani‘s brother, acknowledged from Brazil on the Telecinco program ‘Fiesta’ presented by Emma Garcia that the family was powerless and that the lawyer wasn’t living up to expectations.

“We are powerless in this situation. I think the lawyer (Miraida Puente Wislon) is not doing well,” Ney stated.

The man likely to represent Alves‘ moving forward is a lawyer named Andres Marhuenda Martinez, according to Telecinco.

Alves’ family: We will give our lives if necessary for Dani Alves to get out of this hell

Junior Alves, another of Alves‘ brothers, declared that the current situation was untenable for him on an emotional level.

“I can’t take any more,” Junior Alves said.

“They are going beyond the limits. It is forbidden to visit him. I don’t know what else to do. We will give our lives if necessary to get him out of this hell”.

Dana Dinorah, Alves‘ ex-wife, also believes her husband would never commit such a heinous act.

Dana Dinorah, who was married to Alves between 2008 and 2011 has come to her ex-husband’s defense.

“Dani would never, ever, ever do this. Never.” Dinorah stated.

“I’m telling you that I’ve known him for 22 years, and I’ve been married to him for 10 years.

“In the family they are nervous and overwhelmed because they want to see him, but no one can access him until now. I know he is sad, but he is fine.”
