Chicharito Hernandez and Carlos Vela hug each other in the Traffic Classic…neither will go to Qatar 2022 World Cup

Mexican strikers Carlos Vela and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez gave each other a big hug at the end of the game, in which LAFC defeated Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 to advance to the MLS Western Conference final.

The image is very striking, they are two of the best Aztec strikers in recent years, image of the national team, iconic players on and off the field, they have so much in common, that for the next World Cup in Qatar 2022, both will watch it on television.

Why aren’t they going to the World Cup?

The coach of the Mexican National Team, the Argentinean Gerardo “Tata” Martino, has decided that Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez will not go to the tournament.

Hernandez had a good season with the LA Galaxy, scored 18 goals, had two assists and was a key player for the team to reach the MLS playoffs. However, with his performances he did not convince Martino to go with the TRI to the World Cup.

The case of Carlos Vela is different, the LAFC striker has had problems with the national team, for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil he did not want to go, and for Qatar things did not change. Vela announced his retirement from the national team and said he would never wear the green uniform again.

Two similar careers and it seems that in the end they will unite to watch the World Cup from home.
