The Portuguese striker was punished by manager Erik ten Hag after refusing to come on during Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Tottenham, and then walking to the dressing room and leaving the stadium without permission.
ESPN reports the club have had enough of Ronaldo and are even willing to let him go on a free transfer.
The biggest drawback is the strikers’s salary, as he is paid roughly 500,000 pounds a week.
A few years ago Ronaldo was considered the best footballer in the world, but things have changed as he approaches 38 years of age.
That is why United are even willing to loan him out.
Manchester United fear there are no offers
Given Ronaldo‘s contract expires next summer, loaning him would all but mean letting him go for free as he isn’t expected to sign an extension.
United are confident that a strong World Cup will result in interest from other clubs in January, though they still fear they’ll get no offers like back in the summer.
Not everyone can sign Cristiano given his wages, though that would change if agreed to take a pay cut.
While United aren’t sure how to get rid of Ronaldo, what’s all but certain is that his time with the club is nearing its conclusion.
