Carlos Soler is set to join Paris Saint-Germain. Valencia have accepted an offer of 18 million euros plus three million in variables.
Valencia had been aware for more than a week, as MARCA reported on August 26, that the French side were after their captain.
In the end, the deal, pending official confirmation, has been finalised and Soler, like Goncalo Guedes, is leaving the club with just two days to go until the end of the summer transfer window.
Soler’s contract expires next season and after eight months without receiving any news from the club on an improved deal, he had a meeting on Monday with Valencia who presented him, according to the club, with an offer for five seasons.
It was too late and the player has signed for PSG after Valencia accepted the 21 million euro offer.
Soler leaves a significant hole in the squad. He and Guedes kept the team up last season, but both have now left under Peter Lim’s watch.
The player came up through the ranks at Valencia, but is now starting his adventure outside of Spain in a team full of stars.
He will have to fight to be a starter and to earn a place in Luis Enrique‘s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
